1. Aims and Scope

The Journal of Emerging Intelligence and Engineering Technologies (JEIET) is an interdisciplinary, peer-reviewed journal that publishes original research, review articles, and case studies at the intersection of Artificial Intelligence, intelligent systems, engineering, computing, and emerging technologies. Relevant topics include, but are not limited to:

•     Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML)

•     Data Intelligence and Big Data Analytics

•     Robotics and Automation

•     Internet of Things (IoT) and Digital Twins

•     Cloud and Edge Computing

•     Cybersecurity

•     Advanced Communication Technologies

•     Intelligent Engineering Systems

Authors should confirm that their manuscript falls within this scope before submission. Manuscripts outside the aims and scope may be desk rejected.

2. Manuscript Types

Word counts exclude references, tables, and figure captions.

3. General Submission Requirements

Before submitting, authors must ensure that:

•     The manuscript has not been previously published and is not under consideration elsewhere.

•     All listed authors have read and approved the manuscript and consent to be identified as authors.

•     The study design and argument are clearly structured; the title is concise and the abstract can stand alone.

•     Permission has been obtained for any copyrighted material, photos, datasets, or third-party content included.

•     Where applicable, research involving human/animal subjects has received appropriate ethics committee approval.

•     All references are checked for accuracy and completeness, and correspond to in-text citations.

•     All tables and figures are numbered, labeled, and submitted in editable (non-image) format.

Manuscripts not meeting these minimum standards may be desk rejected by the editor prior to peer review.

4. Manuscript Structure

Manuscripts should generally be organized as follows:

•     Title Page (submitted separately for blind review, if required) — full title; full names, affiliations, and ORCID iDs of all authors; corresponding author's email

•     Abstract — 150–250 words, summarizing purpose, method, key results, and conclusion. No citations in the abstract.

•     Keywords — 4–6 keywords, separated by commas

•     Introduction — background, problem statement, objectives, and contribution

•     Literature Review / Related Work (where applicable)

•     Methodology / Materials and Methods

•     Results

•     Discussion

•     Conclusion — summary of findings, implications, limitations, and future work

•     Acknowledgements (if any)

•     Author Contributions (recommended, e.g., CRediT taxonomy)

•     Conflict of Interest Statement

•     Funding Statement

•     Data Availability Statement

•     References (APA style — see Section 6)

•     Appendices (if applicable)

5. Formatting Requirements

•     File format: Microsoft Word (.docx). LaTeX submissions must include an editable source file.

•     Page size: A4, 1-inch (2.54 cm) margins on all sides.

•     Font: Times New Roman, 12 pt, 1.5 line spacing throughout (single spacing acceptable for tables and references).

•     Headings: Numbered hierarchically (e.g., 1., 1.1, 1.1.1) and formatted consistently.

•     Page numbers: Bottom-right of every page.

•     Language: Clear, formal academic English (UK or US spelling, used consistently).

•     Equations: Numbered consecutively in parentheses, right-aligned, created using an equation editor (not inserted as images).

•     Abbreviations: Defined at first use.

5.1 Tables and Figures

•     All tables must be created as native, editable tables (e.g., Word table objects or LaTeX tabular environments) — not inserted as images or screenshots.

•     Figures should be high resolution (minimum 300 dpi) and submitted as separate editable files where possible (vector formats such as .eps/.svg, or high-quality .png/.tiff); avoid low-resolution screenshots.

•     Number tables and figures sequentially (Table 1, Table 2…; Figure 1, Figure 2…) in order of appearance.

•     Each table and figure must have a concise, descriptive caption — placed above tables and below figures.

•     All tables and figures must be cited in the main text before they appear.

•     Reused or adapted tables/figures must include a source citation and, where necessary, evidence of copyright permission.

6. Citation and Reference Style — APA (7th Edition)

JEIET follows the American Psychological Association (APA), 7th Edition style for all in-text citations and the reference list.

6.1 In-Text Citations

•     Every factual claim, data point, or idea drawn from another source must be cited in-text, immediately following the relevant statement.

•     Parenthetical citation: (Author, Year) — e.g., (Sharma, 2023)

•     Narrative citation: Author (Year) argued that… — e.g., Sharma (2023) argued that…

•     Two authors: (Sharma & Lee, 2023)

•     Three or more authors: (Sharma et al., 2023)

•     Direct quotations must include the page or paragraph number: (Sharma, 2023, p. 45)

•     Multiple citations in one parenthesis are separated by semicolons and ordered alphabetically: (Lee, 2021; Sharma, 2023)

•     Secondary sources should be avoided; cite the original source wherever possible.

6.2 Reference List

•     Titled “References,” placed at the end of the manuscript, listed alphabetically by first author's surname.

•     Use a hanging indent for each entry.

•     Every in-text citation must have a corresponding reference list entry, and vice versa — no orphan citations or unused references.

•     Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs), where available, must be included as full URLs (e.g., https://doi.org/xxxx).

Common APA reference formats:

Journal article:

Author, A. A., & Author, B. B. (Year). Title of article. Title of Journal, volume(issue), page range. https://doi.org/xxxx

Book:

Author, A. A. (Year). Title of work: Capital letter also for subtitle. Publisher.

Book chapter:

Author, A. A. (Year). Title of chapter. In E. E. Editor (Ed.), Title of book (pp. xx–xx). Publisher.

Conference paper:

Author, A. A. (Year, Month). Title of paper [Paper presentation]. Conference Name, Location.

Website:

Author, A. A. (Year, Month Date). Title of page. Site Name. URL

Authors are strongly encouraged to use reference management software (e.g., Zotero, Mendeley, EndNote) to ensure APA compliance and accuracy.

7. Research and Publication Ethics

•     Submissions must be original work and free of plagiarism; manuscripts may be screened using similarity-detection software.

•     Fabrication, falsification, or manipulation of data is strictly prohibited.

•     Authors must disclose any conflicts of interest and all sources of funding.

•     Simultaneous submission to multiple journals is not permitted.

•     Any use of AI-assisted writing tools must be disclosed in the Methods or Acknowledgements section, specifying the tool and its role; AI tools cannot be listed as authors.

•     Authorship should be limited to those who made a significant contribution to the work; all listed authors must approve the final manuscript.

8. Peer Review Process

•     Editorial screening — initial check for scope, originality, and adherence to these guidelines.

•     Double-blind peer review — manuscripts passing initial screening are sent to at least two independent reviewers.

•     Editorial decision — accept, minor revision, major revision, or reject, based on reviewer recommendations.

•     Revision — authors are typically given a defined window (e.g., 2–4 weeks) to submit revisions with a point-by-point response to reviewers.

•     Final decision and production — accepted manuscripts proceed to copyediting, typesetting, and publication.

9. Submission Preparation Checklist

Before submitting, please confirm:

☐  Manuscript meets the journal's aims and scope.

☐  Manuscript has not been previously published and is not under review elsewhere.

☐  Title, abstract, and keywords are complete and properly formatted.

☐  All references are in APA 7th edition style and match in-text citations exactly.

☐  All tables are in editable format (not images); all figures meet resolution requirements.

☐  All tables and figures are numbered, labeled, and cited in the text.

☐  Permissions obtained for any third-party or copyrighted material.

☐  Conflict of interest and funding statements included.

☐  Manuscript formatted per Section 5 (font, spacing, margins, page numbers).

☐  Corresponding author contact details are current and accurate.

10. Copyright and Licensing

Upon acceptance, authors will be asked to complete a copyright/licensing agreement. Authors retain the rights specified in the journal's copyright policy, subject to the terms published on the journal's website.
